The Messe Frankfurt Light+Building show in Germany is the event where retailers, designers and architects go to view what’s next in the lighting design world.
Chandeliers come in extremely simple designs that include faux candles, small bulbs, or a few lights to the ornate and expensive crystal varieties. Whichever is your décor choice, measure out the space, and ceiling height before ordering to ensure enough head room will be available below the hanging chandelier.
Because each customer’s lighting needs are different, 2Modern has expanded its malleable lighting collection in order to provide “a lamp that can be tailored to spatial needs.” On-trend examples include Rich Brilliant Willing’s Palindrome Chandelier or Moooi’s Heracleum (shown above).
This morbid lamp was created by design studio Enpieza located in Spain. The Colgao (“hung” in Spanish) is hanging from the top horizontal rod of the lamp.
When completely closed, it measures just 2.75? tall (and looks like a high tech stapler). Open it up, and it can reach up to almost 22? in height. This beautiful design doesn’t come cheap, the price is $595 USD, but if you want something cool and elegant you have to pay the price.

Roly-Poly comes from designer Jung Jae Yup and is one of the most playful lamp design we’ve seen. The project is also known as “Zen”, probably because it takes a strong meditative state for one not to be provoked into playing with this lamp.
