The Memento lamp was designed by Hiroshi Yoneya and Yumi Masuko for design collective Tonerico. At this point, it looks like it’s is only available in Japan.
It seems even with the modern LED light technology, designers just cannot let go of old designs. Good Night Eileen by Christine Birkhoven is based on the archaic hand-lamp, which was used for illumination moving from one room to another at home in the dark.
At first this looks just like a mild-mannered table lamp (except for the fact that it’s almost six feet tall), but open it up and you’ll see a tiny table lamp sitting on a table. It’s like those Russian nesting dolls. The most surprising aspect of this design is its price, $3,888.
In areas where ambiance is wanted along with task lighting, add a dimmer onto your pendant lights for versatility of controlling the light output.
